LEWISTOWN — Supporting the next generation of skilled workers and professionals remains at the heart of the Chuck Zimmerman Memorial Trust, which recently awarded scholarships to four graduating seniors from the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology in Lewistown.
Unlike many traditional scholarships, the trust’s awards are designed to benefit students pursuing a variety of paths after high school — whether continuing their education or entering the workforce immediately. This year’s recipients reflect that mission, representing both college-bound students and those stepping directly into skilled trades.
The scholarships were funded through the Trust’s annual golf outing, held May 15, 2026, at Shade Mountain Golf Course in Middleburg, which raised more than $3,000. Four students were selected to receive $500 awards in recognition of their hard work, career goals, and commitment to their chosen fields.
Connor Foltz, a 2026 graduate of Juniata High School and the Academy’s Collision Repair Technology program, was among the recipients. Through the school’s cooperative education program, Foltz gained hands-on experience and secured employment with Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown. He plans to use his scholarship funds to purchase tools for his trade and will continue working with the company after graduation.
Another recipient, Eden Molinaro, graduated from Mifflin County High School and completed the Academy’s Health Professions program. Molinaro plans to attend South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College, where she will study cardiac diagnostic medical sonography. She intends to apply the scholarship funding toward her tuition expenses.

Leslie Vasquez, also a Mifflin County High School graduate, completed the Academy’s Early Childhood Education program and will attend Penn State-Altoona this fall. Majoring in Early Childhood Education, Vasquez aspires to become a kindergarten teacher. She will use her scholarship to help cover the cost of textbooks and a laptop computer.
The fourth recipient, Tori Piper, graduated from Mifflin County High School and the Academy’s Welding Technology program. Piper plans to enter the workforce immediately and expects to begin employment with M.A.D. Agility Equipment in McClure. Her scholarship will help offset transportation costs as she transitions into full-time work.
The Chuck Zimmerman Memorial Trust continues to play an important role in strengthening the local community by supporting both higher education and skilled trades. Through events like its annual golf outing and the generosity of supporters, the trust remains committed to helping area graduates build successful and rewarding futures.
