Lauren Lonsdale Climbs To #4 All-Time In 13-14 Age Group With 4:44 400 IM At Sacramento Futures

DART Swimming’s Lauren Lonsdale followed up her incredible showing on the opening day of the Sacramento Futures Championships in the 200 free with an even better swim on Thursday, climbing the all-time age group rankings in the 400 IM while doubling up with another win in the 100 back.
The 14-year-old dominated the final of the women’s 400 IM in a time of 4:44.16, knocking more than two seconds off her previous best of 4:46.27 to move into #4 all-time in the girls’ 13-14 age group.

Bend Swim Club’s Ginger Kiefer, a rising senior at the University of Idaho, was the runner-up in 4:53.78 after breaking 5:00 for the first time in the prelims (4:58.79).
In the very next women’s event, Lonsdale was back in the water in the 100 back, claiming her second victory of the night in a time of 1:01.77, missing her lifetime best by less than two-tenths. She set a PB of 1:01.64 just a few weeks ago at the Super League LC Championships, which ranks her 18th all-time in the 13-14 age group.
BYU commit Summer Thresher was the runner-up in the 100 back in a time of 1:02.23, improving on her year-old best of 1:02.62 set en route to winning the event at this meet in 2025.
Another headliner from the opening day of racing was another 14-year-old, Sarasota Sharks’ Natalia Lesniewska, who moved up into a tie for sixth all-time in the 13-14 age group on Day 1 in the 50 free by virtue of a relay lead-off.
On Day 2, Lesniewska set a new best time in the 100 free, winning the event in 55.88 to improve on her previous PB of 56.63 and move into a tie for 10th all-time in the girls’ 13-14 age group.

Lesniewska was followed in the 100 free final by last night’s 800 free winner, Rebecca Diaconescu, who clocked 56.13 for her fastest swim since 2024.
On the men’s side, Stanford commit Nathan Foucu broke 50 for the first time in the 100 free, blasting his way to a time of 49.94 in the final to move into a tie for 72nd all-time in the boys’ 17-18 age group. Foucu came into the meet with a best time of 50.32, set in June, and had reset his PB down to 50.10 in the prelims.
He went 1-2 with Quicksilver teammate Tyler Porter, who placed 2nd in 50.42 to re-lower the 50.84 best time he set in the prelims.
There was also a 1-2 finish from brothers Lupo Sgroi and Vito Sgroi in the 400 IM, as 16-year-old Lupo claimed the victory in 4:24.26 over older brother Vito (4:25.03).
Lupo’s swim marked a massive best after breaking 4:30 for the first time in the prelims (4:29.53), while Vito, who repsresented Italy earlier this month at the European Junior Championships, also dipped under his previous best of 4:25.27.
OTHER EVENTS
- Palo Alto Stanford’s Gabe Anagnoson won the men’s 100 back by nearly a second in 56.29, chopping two one-hundredths off his previous best of 56.31 set at this meet last year.
- Quicksilver’s Ciara Looney (27.52) earned a narrow victory over Lesniewska (27.54) and Sage Miller (27.62) in the women’s 50 fly, with Looney, a UC Davis commit, lowering her previous best of 27.90. As for Lesniewska, her swim appears to rank 19th all-time among 13-14 girls, though there’s no official 13-14 NAG rankings tracked for the stroke 50s.
- North Bay Aquatics’ Cameron Aryanpour set back-to-back best times en route to winning the men’s 50 fly, clocking 24.48 in the prelims and then ultimately 24.27 in the final. The 20-year-old came in with a PB of 24.75, set at this meet last year where he was 5th.
