Donald Trump dealt major blow as CNBC halts for breaking news alert | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

CNBC issued a breaking news alert as US President Donald Trump was given some bad news. Presenter Dominic Chu interviewed American economist Kevin Hassett after confirming that the US has seen manufacturing job losses for the last seven months. Chu asked over a breaking news banner across the bottom of the screen: “Manufacturing jobs, November, that’s a seven month decline, do you expect that to reverse in 2026?”
Hassett replied: “What we’re seeing is, you saw the increase in construction, we’ve been tracking ground breakings of all these factories that have come forward from both the trade deals of the drug companies, so there have been 30 factory groundbreakings since September 2025, and all of those are going to create new jobs next year.” Hassett’s response comes after new data has revealed that in 2025, unemployment rate rose to 4.6% in November, which is up by half a point in 2025, and marks the highest level in the US since 2021.
Not only that, those who have jobs are not seeing big pay rises, as measures including average hourly earnings and the employment cost index are rising at the slowest paces since 2021.
From April through November, at least 13% of employed individuals saw no pay increases at all from 2024, data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta show.
A video of the breaking news announcement was shared on X, as one person fumed: “BREAKING: CNBC just admitted it. Under Donald Trump, America has now seen seven straight months of manufacturing job losses.Seven.
“While he sells “America First” slogans, working Americans keep getting pink slips. This isn’t leadership. It’s economic erosion dressed up as patriotism.”
Another added: “While the slogans are loud, the factory floors are getting awfully quiet. Seven months of losses isn’t a ‘hiccup’; it’s a trend that no amount of patriotic dressing can hide. If this is ‘winning,’ the American worker really can’t afford any more of it!”
A third agreed: “Everyone ignored Elon when he said that people were going to have tough times ahead. He knew the impact that DOGE and PROJECT 2025 would have on the Country.”
However, one person disagreed, as they said: “What nonsense. You think the reduction of government employees (250 thousand) is a bad thing. The growth rate of civilian labor is steadily increasing. Don’t confuse us with Canada, where one in four workers are government employees.”
