Mogotes Metals Insider Sellers Vindicated After 11% Drop

Insiders at Mogotes Metals Inc. (CVE:MOG) sold CA$569k worth of stock at an average price of CA$0.52 a share over the past year, making the most of their investment. The company’s market worth decreased by CA$37m over the past week after the stock price dropped 11%, although insiders were able to minimize their losses

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Mogotes Metals Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Independent Non-Executive Chairman, Peter Mullens, sold CA$309k worth of shares at a price of CA$0.53 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of CA$0.57, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it’s only a weak signal. This single sale was just 14% of Peter Mullens’s stake. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Peter Mullens.

Peter Mullens divested 1.10m shares over the last 12 months at an average price of CA$0.52.
