Acquisition Of ETF Provider Innovator Capital Management Completed

Goldman Sachs announced that it has completed its acquisition of Innovator Capital Management, a pioneer in defined outcome exchange-traded funds. The deal strengthens Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s position in the fast-growing active ETF market and significantly expands its product offerings.

With the addition of Innovator’s approximately $31 billion in assets under supervision across 171 ETFs, Goldman Sachs Asset Management now manages around 240 ETFs globally. The firm’s total ETF assets under supervision rise to about $90 billion, positioning it among the top ten global active ETF providers.

The acquisition enhances Goldman Sachs’ capabilities in defined outcome ETFs, which use options-based strategies to help investors target specific outcomes such as income generation, downside protection, and growth. Innovator’s lineup, including its well-known Buffer ETFs, brings specialized expertise that complements Goldman Sachs’ broader investment platform.

As part of the integration, Innovator’s leadership team is joining Goldman Sachs in key roles. Co-founders Bruce Bond and John Southard will serve as Advisory Directors, while Chief Investment Officer Graham Day and Head of Distribution Trevor Terrell join as Partners. More than 70 Innovator employees are also transitioning to Goldman Sachs, with existing investment management and service providers retained to ensure continuity for investors.

Goldman Sachs, founded in 1869 and headquartered in New York, oversees approximately $3.6 trillion in assets under supervision. The firm continues to expand its asset management capabilities across public and private markets, with this acquisition marking a notable step in scaling its ETF business.
