Sen. Joni Ernst, additional Iowa Republicans endorse Rep. Ashley Hinson for US Senate

President Donald Trump previously endorsed Hinson for Senate in September of last year.

ADEL, Iowa — Multiple Iowa Republican lawmakers gathered in Adel on Saturday for an event in which they endorsed Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-2) for Senate.

Among those leaders was Sen. Joni Ernst, who previously announced she will not run for the position again in 2026.

“Today, I am formally endorsing Ashley Hinson for United States Senate,” Ernst said. “Ashley is an incredible friend. She is an incredible mother. She’s an incredible wife. She has mentored many that have followed behind her as well. She is a leader.”

Hinson, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump in September of 2025, was also endorsed Saturday by political leaders Rep. Zach Nunn (IA-3) and Secretary of State Paul Pate.

“We’ve got a great lineup of what we can do this midterm,” Nunn said in his speech to the crowd Saturday. “It gives us the opportunity, as Iowans, to make sure that we can do a lot more of what happens well here in Iowa, in Washington. In DC. But the reality is this, Ashley is going on to become our next senator, and that will be a huge win for us in the Senate.”

During his speech, Pate addressed the momentum the Republican party has seen in recent years in the Hawkeye State.

“We need good candidates like Ashley, and I can tell you right now, we have the momentum,” Pate said. “We just can’t let up. And the good news is, guess what? We out-register the Democrats in Iowa. That’s a good thing. Okay? Iowans did a wake up call, and they decided that’s the party that understands best what’s good for Iowa.”

Hinson thanked Ernst upon taking the stage.

“Thank you so much Joni. Thank you so much for your leadership,” she said. “You talk about your experience and all that you have done for Iowa, you don’t back down from a fight. I’ve seen this woman in action. She is tough as nails, and she has fought for Iowans in the United States Senate for almost 12 years.”

While addressing her supporters, Hinson spoke about her campaign and the next steps for the GOP.

“It’s always a very powerful thing when people who love America show up because they believe in the country, they believe in the future of this country and at our heart, it’s about our next generation. It’s about leaving it better for the people who come after us and and that’s what my hope is,” she said.

“I’m not going to bend, I’m not going to fold and I’m going to keep fighting for you every single day,” Hinson added.
