Edwards, who is the daughter of Mary-Margaret and Stephen Edwards, said she enjoys all types of fiction, from “nights and shining armor to dragons and fairies.” She is currently enjoying the Harry Potter series.

For her book fair project, she did “The Firefly Summer” by Morgan Watson.

“I started on my project five days before the reading fair,” Edwards said. “I knew the book well. I got it at Dixon Books when it first opened, and I must’ve read it 500 times. I love that it’s about a fun, chaotic family. And there’s s’mores.”

Edwards said she’s not a bit nervous about competing at the state-level book fair in Pearl, as she plans to “Charm the judges with her awesome sense of humor,” she said.

Burnsed, the daughter of Bryanna and Josh Burnsed, said she typically enjoys fiction books like “The Dork Diaries” and “Land of Stories,” but found an interest in her non-fiction book about the famous diver Eugenie Clark.

“My mom loves sharks, so I thought I’d try it out,” she said of why she chose the book.

Burnsed said she is “nervous but excited” about competing in the state book fair.

As for her other hobbies, Burnsed said she enjoys basketball, running, drawing, and fighting with her older sister, Hailey.
