LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District candidate Rebecca Cooke made a campaign stop in La Crosse Friday, calling for lawmakers to focus on domestic economic issues rather than foreign conflicts.

Cooke joined Illinois Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski and local union workers at American Legion Post #52 to discuss strategies for lowering costs for working families.

During the event, Cooke emphasized the need to redirect legislative attention toward American economic priorities.

“I think we have to be focused here at home on putting America first and putting our economy here first– and making sure that folks are able to afford their medicine and that our public schools are funded, right?” Cooke said. “We have real issues that we need to be focused on here instead of involving ourselves in more foreign conflicts.”

The congressional candidate outlined key domestic priorities including affordable healthcare and adequate public school funding as areas requiring immediate attention from federal lawmakers.

Budzinski, who represents Illinois’ 13th Congressional District, appeared alongside Cooke to support her campaign message focused on working families and economic relief.

The event at the American Legion post brought together union workers and community members to hear Cooke’s platform on economic policy and domestic spending priorities.
