SNAP Benefits July 2026: Check when your state sends food assistance payments

Millions of Americans will rely on SNAP benefits to help cover groceries in July 2026, but the money will not arrive on the same day for every household.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is funded by the federal government, but states and territories control when benefits are loaded onto Electronic Benefit Transfer cards.

6 things you should know about SNAP Texas

That means one family could receive its July payment on the first of the month, while another household in a different state may wait until the final week.

The timing isn’t random. States use different systems to manage distribution, often based on case number, last name, Social Security number, application date or other household records.

That makes July’s schedule especially important for recipients planning around food costs, the Independence Day holiday weekend and regular monthly bills.

Which states send SNAP early in July?

Some states and territories issue SNAP benefits at the very start of the month. Alaska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont and the U.S. Virgin Islands are scheduled for July 1. Nebraska sends benefits from July 1 to 5, while New Jersey also runs from July 1 to 5.

Other states spread payments across the first 10 days. California, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., all fall into that broader early-month group. Oregon issues benefits from July 1 to 9, while Wisconsin runs from July 1 to 15.

Several states continue deeper into July. Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana and Maryland all have payment windows that stretch into the 20s. Mississippi runs from July 4 to 21, Missouri from July 1 to 22 and Ohio from July 2 to 20.

The longest windows are in Florida and Texas, where July SNAP benefits may be issued from July 1 through July 28. Larger states often stagger benefits over more days to manage millions of recipients.

How much SNAP households can receive

SNAP benefits are deposited onto EBT cards and can be used at authorized grocery stores, supermarkets, farmers markets, convenience stores and some participating online retailers.

The amount depends on household size, income and deductions. Under FY 2026 rules, the maximum monthly allotment in the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., is $298 for a one-person household and $994 for a family of four.

Households with little or no income may qualify for the maximum benefit, while those with earnings generally receive less.

Recipients should check their exact date through their state benefits portal, EBT account, SNAP paperwork or local benefits office. Holiday closures around July 3 may affect customer service access, even if scheduled deposits still go through.

July SNAP payments are coming, but the date depends on state rules and household records. Anyone relying on food assistance should confirm their personal EBT date before planning grocery spending around a specific day.
