Clarkson to host Adirondack Fire Futures symposium this week | Community News

POTSDAM — As communities across New York once again experience the impacts of smoke from Canadian wildfires, the challenges associated with wildfire risk are no longer distant concerns. Air quality alerts, changing forest conditions, invasive species, flooding, and expanding development at the forest edge are creating new realities for communities throughout our state, and especially in our Adirondack backyard.
To help understand and address these challenges, Clarkson University and our higher education partners—including Paul Smith’s College, St. Lawrence University, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Potsdam, and SUNY ESF—are convening Fire Futures: Wildfire Risk and Resilience in the Adirondacks and Eastern Forests from July 27 to 29 at Clarkson University.
