Warwick grad Hayden Rucci stays with San Francisco 49ers after signing reserve/futures contract | High School Football

Hayden Rucci is staying with the San Francisco 49ers.
Rucci, a Warwick grad and tight end who joined the Niners’ practice squad Jan. 14 to provide depth following the season-ending Achilles’ injury to George Kittle, signed a reserve/futures contract with the team, it was announced Thursday.
Rucci was not elevated to the active roster for San Francisco’s playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week.
The Niners were the third NFL team Rucci was with during the 2025 season.
He began the season with the Miami Dolphins, who waived him at final cuts before signing him to their practice squad.
He was elevated to the active roster — but remained on the practice squad — to face Atlanta on Oct. 26 in his regular-season debut and for a loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 30.
The 6-foot-5, 247-pound Rucci was signed to Miami’s active roster on Nov. 8 and played in wins over the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 9 and the Washington Commanders on Nov. 16.
He was waived by the Dolphins on Nov. 29 and claimed on waivers by Detroit on Dec. 1.
The Lions released Rucci on Dec. 10, and he returned to the Dolphins’ practice squad on Dec. 12.
Rucci, an All-State selection at Warwick who turns 25 on Jan. 27, joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin in April 2024.
