BAJUS Announces New Gold Prices for Bangladesh Market

Gold prices dropped in Bangladesh’s market on Sunday according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

In its latest press release the BAJUS announced fresh rates for the domestic gold market with effect from Sunday morning. The price of 22-carat gold (highest quality) now stands at Tk.2,35,146 per bhori (11.664 grams), down by Tk.2,216 from the previous rate.

The price of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk.2,216 as well, bringing it to Tk.2,24,590 per bhori. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold now costs Tk.1,92,864 per bhori and traditional gold ornaments are priced at Tk.1,60,458 per bhori.

This marks a decrease just days after gold prices rose in the local market last Thursday.

Silver prices, however, remained unchanged. According to BAJUS, 22-carat silver is currently priced at Tk 5,132 per bhori, while 21-carat silver sells for Tk 4,957. The rate for 18-carat silver stands at Tk 4,257 and traditional silver is priced at Tk 3,208 per bhori.

BAJUS clarified that making charges for gold and silver jewelry are set according to design and since VAT is already included in the announced price, it cannot be charged separately from customers. The association also confirmed that its existing policies for exchanging or buying back jewelry excluding VAT, making charges and stone value remain in effect.
