How to Approach Personal Finance, According to WNBA Player Sophie Cunningham
Sophie Cunningham shared some sound advice about financial success in the Indiana Fever‘s latest social media feature.
In the second episode of “Beyond Basketball with Sophie Cunningham,” a mini social media series by the Fever in partnership with financial institution Yrefy, the Fever guard discussed financial literacy and the importance of learning from people with relevant experience.

According to Cunningham, financial literacy information is readily available today, be it in traditional books or online. The 6-foot-1 guard added that people and communities are willing to share their financial expertise.
“Everyone is going to be different,” Cunningham said. “I think that’s the beautiful thing. It’s not one thing to be successful with your money. There’s always going to be people who have been where you’re at that can help you.”
In the first episode of this social media series, the former Missouri star talked about her personal brand and why WNBA players should invest their money wisely, especially after increased salaries under the league’s new collective bargaining agreement.

Cunningham is a fitting participant in this series, since she has successfully leveraged her popularity into a thriving personal brand. Through the years, the eight-year veteran has established multiple brand deals during her meteoric rise in the WNBA.
Her portfolio includes partnerships with big brands like Adidas, Arby’s, Marriott Bonvoy, European Wax Center and Groov.
In her second season with Indiana, Cunningham has averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 42 games. She has been a key rotational player off the bench, helping the Fever clinch a spot in this year’s playoffs.

The Fever’s final regular-season game is on Thursday against the Minnesota Lynx.
