India’s gold and silver shock: The financial issues transcend the metals

In this presentation, Jeffrey Christian of CPM Group discusses the gold price outlook, the silver market, platinum ETF demand, palladium weakness, India’s gold and silver market stress, and the ongoing debate over silver use in battery technology. He explains why gold continues to consolidate around $4,500 and why silver remains near key support around $70. He also looks at why short-term pullbacks or sharp moves lower are still possible, even as investment demand continues to support precious metals prices.
Jeff also responds to claims that silver’s early 2026 spike was caused by scarcity. He explains that the move was driven by investment demand rather than any actual shortage of metal. He also discusses why Comex inventory levels are not falling sharply as some promoters claim.
The presentation also covers India’s gold and silver restrictions, tightness in the silver market, the weak rupee, import quotas, and reduced domestic selling of gold and silver. Jeff then explains the differences between liquid lithium-ion batteries, Samsung’s silver battery technology, silver-bearing solid-state batteries, and older silver batteries already used in smaller devices for half a century.
