Sterlite Tech shares in focus as firm secures US certification for AI data centre fibre assemblies

Shares of Sterlite Technologies will be in focus heading into trade on Friday after the company secured Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum (OFNP) US certification for its Intermittently Bonded Ribbon (IBR) pre-terminated assembly portfolio, aimed at indoor AI data centre connectivity.

STL said the factory-built cable assemblies come with connectors installed, polished and tested for high performance. The assemblies are designed to eliminate the need for field splicing and equipment, helping enable faster installation and lower costs, the company said.

With the certification, STL said it is now among the global AI-ready infrastructure providers for NFPA 262-qualified indoor cable assemblies. The plenum-certified portfolio is designed for indoor applications and targets specialised deployments inside hyperscale, colocation and enterprise data centre containment zones.

According to STL, the cables are optimised for tight routing environments and enable operators to scale bandwidth within restricted duct spaces without compromising safety compliance.

“As AI workloads push the boundaries of data centre design, the physical layer must evolve to meet unprecedented density and safety demands,” said Badri Gomatam, CTO, Optical Networking Business, STL.

“Achieving this plenum certification for our indoor IBR cable family is a testament to STL’s engineering excellence and our commitment to being the partner of choice for the world’s largest hyperscalers. We are proud to deliver solutions that not only power the AI revolution but do so with the highest standards of safety and reliability,” he added.
